The shoulder joint is the most easily compromised in the body as it’s structure of a golf ball on a tee like mechanism makes it extremely susceptible to injury. When the muscles get weak or overused and injured it can lead to a loss of range of motion either overhead, out to the side, or behind the back. If gone too long without any attention, the loss of range will worsen and can even lead to frozen shoulder! These exercises are meant to strengthen the shoulder girdle, rotator cuff and scapular muscles both concentrically (shortening) AND eccentrically (lengthening) in order to promote tissue repair and restore range of motion and function.
